NYCDB Team of the Week – Round 11

AJ Brimson

Round 10 was a great one for fullbacks, with four making it into this week’s Team of the Week. It turned out to be one of the hardest to pick this season, with a number of great performances across the weekend’s games.

Player of the Week
AJ Brimson (Gold Coast Titans)
Titans’ halfback AJ Brimson picks up his second Player of the Week award after a stellar performance in his side’s win over Manly on Saturday afternoon. The Sea Eagles’ were unable to contain the half, as he sliced through their defence on three occasions for his hat trick, his second try an impressive 75 metre effort. The Centenary junior ended the day with 215 metres, 3 line breaks and 9 tackle breaks.

Rookie of the Week
Sam Johnstone (South Sydney Rabbitohs)
South Sydney’ prop Sam Johnstone is becoming quite a regular in our Team of the Weeks and this week earns the Rookie of the Week award. The Mackay junior was dominant in the Rabbitohs’ big win over Melbourne at Redfern Oval, scoring a try, running for 179 metres and making 21 tackles. The 19-year old is pushing hard for a Queensland under-20’s Origin jersey.
