NYCDB Team of the Week – Round 21

Cameron King

Round 21 was the round of the fullback, with a number of custodians putting in impressive shifts for their clubs’s over the weekend. We’ve managed to squeeze four of them into our side, with a couple others unlucky to miss out.

As a reminder, we’re unable to watch every NYC game each week, so these Team of the Week articles rely heavily on the statistics provided by NRL.com.

Player of the Week
Greg Leleisiuao (Parramatta Eels)
Parramatta’s rampaging winger Greg Leleisiuao wins our Player of the Week award for the third time this season after a dominant performance against the Broncos. This time, the Junior Kiwi ran for 285 metres from 17 runs (16.9 metres per run, by the way), scored a try and broke 14 tackles as Parramatta moved back into the Top 8.

Rookie of the Week
Thomas Mikaele (Wests Tigers)
Like Leleisiuao, Thomas Mikaele becomes a three time winner of our Rookie of the Week award this season after a strong performance in his side’s comeback draw with the Titans. The Goodna junior has been a shining light in a poor Tigers season, averaging a 141.3 metres, 23.8 tackles and 3.8 tackle breaks per game.
